About Barbara Southworth
Barbara Southworth is a printmaking photographer known for landscapes celebrating color, wildness, and native diversity. Based in Alexandria, VA, Southworth received a BFA from Rochester Institute of Technology and an MS in Environmental Earth Science and Policy from Johns Hopkins.  She leads courses and workshops for the Smithsonian Institution and Northern Virginia Community College. Curious about earthly environments from large scale urban infrastructure to gardens, Southworth’s strongest affinity is for the life-enhancing powers of the least altered places. Her photography practice facilitates connections between people and land and she champions environmental engagement.

Southworth said of her selections for the MEG exhibition: “Black and white or color, town or country, pure landscape or built and occupied, night, day or a liminal time, the scenes portrayed invite intriguing questions.”
