Glassworks: A 10 Year Retrospective
October 12 to November 17, 2019 // Popcorn Gallery
The Glen Echo Park Partnership presents Glassworks: A 10 Year Retrospective, celebrating the 10th anniversary of artist collaborations in glass with resident artist Paul Swartwood, Director of the Park’s glassblowing studio. The show includes solo works from select series of Swartwood’s work over his 10 years at Glen Echo Park, as well as the work of six additional artists. Glassworks artists’ unique designs and techniques have been admired by many far and wide. Experience this unique artform by seeing the latest works and techniques in person, and meet and speak with the artists at the Opening Reception. Swartwood and his artists demonstrate that blown glass is an active, thriving, marketable art in which people take interest and support.

In the Night Garden
October 12 to November 17, 2019 // Stone Tower Gallery
Amy Sabrin’s bravura approach to color is on full display in her new exhibition, In the Night Garden. Inspired by late-autumn plein air painting excursions to fading community gardens, Sabrin returned to her studio to further explore this motif. Her increasingly abstract acrylic and watercolor paintings address themes such as the cycle of life, beauty in death, and all the secret things we cannot see at work just below a garden’s surface or in a garden at night. Sabrin’s vibrant palette is inspired by the radiance of the October sun warming up loamy dirt, zinnias glowing in the dusk, shadows cast by the full moon, and the ochre-tinged stalks of drooping sunflowers. Experience the joyous colors, bold composition, and glowing light of Sabrin’s work.
