Film and Discussion: We Like It Like That: The Story of Latin Boogaloo (2016; 80 min)
Friday, October 13 from 2pm to 4pm
Join Anacostia Community Museum for a screening of this acclaimed 2016 documentary. The film tells the story of Latin boogaloo, a colorful expression of 1960s Latino soul, straight from the streets of New York City. The sound of Latin Boogaloo was born in East Harlem, the South Bronx and parts of Brooklyn. It fused Afro-Cuban music with R&B, jazz, funk and rock and was led by musicians such as Joe Baatan, Eddie Palmieri, Ray Barretto, and the Lebron Brothers. An audience Q&A follows the screening.

Note: This film contains some graphic language and is recommended for mature audiences.
