Opening: Saturday, October 1 from 7pm to 10pm.
Olly Olly, an alternative art space in Fairfax, Virginia, is pleased to present Flesh. Flesh continues a tradition of spirited and revelatory sexual discourse. Come and join us for fearlessly erotic invocations of self-care, sustenance, desire, openness and joy that ask us to slow down and savor a multitude of sexualities, bodies, genders and mindfully empowered and embodied creative energies. Experience a playful and biting irreverent peepshow juicy with truth. Flesh unravels the politics of pleasure and celebrates unrestrained expressions of sexual freedom and liberation in the face of ignorance, repression and misogyny. Let’s get super sexy as we dismantle the enshrinement of cultural and historical ideals of the body and call into question static modes of sexual being, puritanical disembodiment and the policing of consensual behavior.
Join Olly Olly on Saturday, October 1, 2016, 7pm-10pm for an evening drenched and dripping with sustained sensations and shared experiences of the body with artists:
- Claudia Estrada
- Rene Farkass
- Charlotte Hagar
- Jeffery Herrity
- Kate Kretz
- David M
- Adrian Parsons
- Dani Smith
- Dafna Steinberg
- The Femme Project
Coinciding with Banned Books Week, the opening reception will also celebrate our freedom to read featuring live flash fiction and poetry by Dani Badra, Jenny Cutler Lopez, Steve Fitzpatrick and Annie Noble.
Olly Olly wants to nourish the body and the community as well. We will be collecting healthy non-perishable food items for the Food Bridge Program at Britepaths, which provides short-term emergency food assistance to Fairfax County area residents who are in crisis. We encourage you to bring a healthy non-perishable food item to donate. The Food Bridge Program is most in need of cooking oil, brown rice, dried beans, canned fruit in its own juices, canned tomato products and pasta sauce.
Olly Olly, located at 10417 Main Street, 2nd Floor in Fairfax, VA, is open for special events and by appointment. Flesh will be on view at Olly Olly from October 1, 2016 through November 5, 2016. Please call 703-789-6144 or visit https://www.facebook.com/events/979798992129772/ for more information.
