Olly Olly Presents XYZ Group Exhibition

XYZ explores how personal narrative and expression shape the way we relate to one another. Engaging ideas of multiplicity, repetition and diversity, XYZ aims to celebrate the personal and unique experiences of the individual. This selection of portraiture, illustration, photography and video art investigates the commonalities of experience, turning ‘me’ into ‘us’ and ‘I’ into ‘we.’

The exhibition features the work of GMU undergraduate students from different artistic concentrations.  As part of the 400 level Professional Practices class, students are preparing for lives outside the classroom. Through class discussions and real-world investigations, they are developing the skills to enter the art world.

Join us at Olly Olly on Thursday, May 2, 2019, 6pm-8pm, for an evening reception with the artists and curators.

Olly Olly wants to nourish the body and the community as well. We will be collecting healthy non-perishable food items for the Food Bridge Program at Britepaths, which provides short-term emergency food assistance to Fairfax County area residents who are in crisis. We encourage you to bring a healthy non-perishable food item to donate. The Food Bridge Program is most in need of cooking oil, brown rice, dried beans, canned fruit in its own juices, canned tomato products and pasta sauce.

Olly Olly, located at 10417 Main Street, 2nd Floor in Fairfax, VA, is open for special events and by appointment. XYZ will be on view at Olly Olly from May 2, 2019 through May 11, 2019.
