Artist Talk and Reception: Saturday, September 30 from 3-6pm
Two artists working in different states found connection through imagery and practice during the 2020 Covid lockdown thanks to social media. Léni Paquet-Morante is a New Jersey based multi-media artist whose plein-air and abstract work reflects her interest in shallow water. Steve Moen is a Maryland based landscape painter whose work reflects a passion for coastlines and waterways. They came across each other’s work on Instagram then met during Léni’s 2021 Yellow Barn Show. Both are compelled to convey an interpretation of place through painterly, rhythmic brushstroke and a bright color palette; both often work from memory. Their aesthetic divergences add to the conversation about practice and intention. This exhibition will bring together recent work from both, including both large and small paintings on canvas, tin, and paper for a lively exhibition of contemporary landscape.
Yellow Barn Gallery at Glen Echo National Park is located at 7300 Macarthur Blvd., Glen Echo, MD.
