Event: Saturday, April 24 from 11am to 9pm
Sunday, April 25 from 11am to 9pm
In what he hopes is a long-awaited sign that life may be returning to some semblance of normalcy post COVID, Washington, DC-based artist Ravi Raman announced today that he will participate in two art exhibits in the coming weeks. On April 24 and 25, he will unveil his latest painting Blue Gardens at the Earth Day Art Gallery and Auction to benefit the Little Tree Huggers Preschool in Leesburg, VA. On May 8, six of Raman’s other paintings will be exhibited as part of a group show titled FEEL at The Yard: Eastern Market to commemorate and benefit Mental Health Awareness Month.
While his street-art mural series Love In Six Lines expanded to two more locations (20th St. NW, outside Dupont Circle Metro (North) entrance; and 1023 15th St. NW) in the last year and brought him unprecedented exposure in the District, Raman has not displayed his paintings at a proper art show since early March 2020.
“Aside from a virtual art exhibit I participated in last fall, these upcoming shows will be the first opportunity to showcase my canvas work – many of which were done during quarantine – to the public in more than a year. It feels like forever since I was able to interact with art aficionados and other artists in person!” said Raman. “The fact that both shows also benefit worthy causes is also particularly gratifying.”
While the two events may be a return to in-person art shows, they are not entirely like the freewheeling affairs of pre-COVID days. To comply with COVID restrictions and precautions, visitors to both openings will have to make timed appointments via Eventbrite to view the works.
