Lourdes presents twenty-four views of her town, Havana, Cuba. Water, sky, churches, bays, neighborhoods. Vibrant, colorful, intense. Oil pastel and ink on paper.
Lourdes Betancourt was born in Havana. She studied at the San Alejandro School of Art, and Instituto Superior de Arte. Lourdes taught painting at the school, 20 de Octubre and later as directress of the José Antonio Diaz Peláez Art School. She finished her teaching career in 2004. Since that time she has been a member of the Victor Manuel Gallery and sells her work through the Fondo de Bienes Culturales in the Féria de San José in Havana’s historic quarter. Lourdes has had exhibitions in Cambodia, Italy, Spain, Germany, Canada, and United States. Her artwork is in private collections internationally.
