RhizomeDC is temporarily transformed into a gallery space, as Takoma Park artist and illustrator Adam Griffiths shows a selection of original drawings and prints.

Join them on Saturday March 12th for an opening reception, featuring a unique performance of live drawing with music improvisation. For this event, Adam will be drawing with soldering iron on a 300-foot roll of thermal fax paper to the non-idiomatic improvisations of the Creative Music Workshop Players.

Adam Griffiths is a cartoonist, illustrator and animator, living in Takoma Park, MD. His paintings, drawings, and videos have been exhibited throughout the DMV region. He is currently working on his first graphic novel. To see more of his work and multimedia projects, visit www.adamgriffiths.ink.

DC’s Creative Music Workshop Players is an evolving collective of improvisers convened in early 2015. We meet weekly to play and to reflect on what we play. We come from a wide range of backgrounds and are constantly seeking to balance engaging one another on common ground while striving to challenge ourselves to experiment with new ideas and techniques. Individually and in various groupings we have played almost everywhere in the DC area, including Source Festival, the Kennedy Center, Sonic Circuits Festival of Experimental Music, DC Jazz Festival, Goethe Institut, Capital Fringe Festival, the Freer Gallery, the Embassy of Indonesia, Dance Exchange, Dance Place, etc. Several of the members are also quite active in supporting underground culture by organizing and curating performances at numerous venues in and around DC, including Union Arts, Back Alley Theater, and RhizomeDC.

RhizomeDC is a nonprofit community space located at 6950 Maple St. NW, in the Takoma neighborhood of Washington DC.
