Opening Reception: Sunday May 1 from 5:30pm to 6:30pm
Scott Hunter uses compelling creatures and abstract forms for his dynamic and playful papier mâché figures that tickle the funny bone and spark the mind. Airborne dragons, regal mermaids, focused fish, brooding moons and other whimsical and abstract creatures reflect the magic that Scott feels around him. They pose a fresh world of new forms and firm color. They touch that part of us that longs for magic, mystery and a few good laughs.

Each piece is a myth gone awry; each one tells a playful story. “Two of my influences are superhero comics and bad Godzilla movies, which were childhood escapes. Now, they’re muses. My art is about discovery and excitement — with a slight touch of anxiety.”
Hunter, an accomplished artist and teacher, shows his work frequently in the DC area including local East City Venues such as the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop and the Results the Gym on Capitol Hill.
His latest work will be on display at the Park Cafe located at 106 13th Street SE on the east end of Lincoln Park. For more information about Scott Hunter visit his website Tense Cat Productions at https://www.tensecat.com
