In a Fertile World
Reception: Saturday, September 8, 5-8 pm
Artists’ Talk: Saturday, September 29, 2 pm
Artists Sharon Fishel, Susan Hostetler, and Nancy Sausser
present their shared interest in the patterns and cycles of the natural world, investigating the various manifestations of fertility in the airborne, the interior, and the aqueous. Fishel’s forms suggest individual moments in the natural life cycle, Hostetler focuses on the seasonal movements and patterns, while Sausser explores the dichotomy of the interior and the exterior. Together, the works ultimately ask us to reflect upon the impermanence of nature, its mystery, and awe inspiring processes.
Exhibition opens to the public Monday, August 27 and runs until Saturday, October 20.

Lost Time
Reception: Saturday, September 8, 5-8 pm
Artist’s Talk: Saturday, September 29, 2 pm
Artist Matt Pinney seeks to represent the systems that inform and classify how we communicate. He looks at the various elements that can shape our understanding of what we see: scientific reasoning, social media, politics, and the divine. These elements are intertwined and presented in the linear perspective of his canvas, allowing the viewer to form their own visual understanding.

“Our interpretation of historic narratives are deeply connected to the present. It is very difficult to decipher the complexity of our society or even my own place in it.” –Matt Pinney

Exhibition opens to the public Monday, August 27 and runs until Saturday, October 20 in the Lab Gallery.

Brentwood Arts Exchange is located at 3901 Rhode Island Ave., Brentwood, MD.
