Strathmore Mansion | Women. Artists. Masters. (WAM) The Big and Small of It

By Editorial Team on February 28, 2022

Tue, 01 February 2022 - Tue, 01 March 2022

Football Girl by Maria Bennett Hock.

In The Big and Small of It, Debra KeirceCarrie Waller, and Maria Bennett Hock, collectively known as Women. Artists. Masters. (WAM), highlight the ways the big and small work together in paintings, from miniature and bold oil paintings to intricate and dramatic watercolors.

“Debra has palm sized oil miniatures, some of which are hidden in boxes. Maria paints on large canvases that draw viewers in, while Carrie paints everyday objects, elevating them to their most beautiful, larger than life presentation, said Lesley Morris, Director of Exhibitions at Strathmore. “Together, the work by these three amazing artists invites viewers to both lean in and step back for the experience.”

The exhibition is on view now through March 12, 2022 in Strathmore’s historic Mansion.

ABOUT WAM

Women. Artists. Masters. is a group comprised of three artists sharing common goals. The artists help each other solve problems with input and advice from the other group members. There is a synergy of energy, commitment, and excitement that each artist brings to the group. The WAM artists raise the bar, challenging each other to create and implement goals, brainstorm ideas, and support each other with honesty, respect, and compassion. They are on a collaborative journey made possible through the power of art and a mission to encourage other groups to come together in a spirit of business and friendship.

Admission to the exhibition is free and open to the public.
