FREE DROP-IN SUMMER SATURDAYS

  • Summer Saturdays
    Saturdays, June 15 – August 10 (excludes 7/6)
    Each Saturday this summer from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., one of CHAW’s amazing teaching artists leads your family in a guided art project. Meet new people, learn a new skill, and create something great at CHAW! Free and open to all (ages 4 and up with a caregiver. First come, first served).   • JR. ARTS ADVENTURE CAMPS
    Limited space remains! Arts are the perfect creative backdrop for imaginative play spaces, social development, and curiosity driven activities. Camps for students grades PreK, ages 4 & 5 weekly throughout the summer from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Payment plans and tuition assistance available. Click here for more info.

FRIDAY NIGHT ARTNIGHTS

  • Working From the Figure Drop-In Figure Drawing
    Fridays, June 21 & 28 and July 5, 19 & 26, 6:30-9:30 p.m.
    Work on drawings or paintings in front of a live model from 6:30-9:30 p.m. facilitated by artist Will Fleishell. Please bring your own drawing materials. Easels available. $15 for drop-in students. Call (202) 547-6839 for more info.
  • Write & Sip
    Friday, July 12, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
    Join author Nancy Arbuthnot (Wild Washington: Animal Sculptures A to Z &House on Dahlia Street: A Parenting Memoir) as she introduces a series of short writing exercises to hone writing skills and jump-start memories you want to share. $30 with snacks, beverages and writing materials provided.   • Clay & Cabernet
    Friday, July 19, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
    Join us for a night of clay, conversation, and a glass or two of cabernet! No previous experience or materials needed. Your creations stay in the studio but you’ll leave with new skills! $30/pp goes to our Tuition Assistance fund. Call (202) 547-6839 to register.

  • Fair Water Project Pop-up Art Project
    Thursday, June 20 from 2-4 p.m.

    CHAW is partnering with the Embassy of Spain as part of the Fair Water Project, a series of events dedicated to the human right to safe drinking water. Join us as CHAW hosts a pop-up art project Water Memories that focuses on memories and stories surrounding water. Free and open to all.
  • Capitol Hill Art League Opening Reception for Winners’ Circle
    Sat., June 22, 5-7 p.m. at CHAW
    CHAL presents the all-media exhibitWinners’ Circle featuring the winning artists during its 2018-2019 season. Runs until August 17th. Click here for more info. 
  • Dine Out for CHAW at Lavagna in July 
    Wednesdays, 4:30-8:30 p.m.
    Every Wednesday in July between 4:30-8:30 p.m., Lavagna (539 8th St, SE) will generously donate 10% of their sales to CHAW’s Paint Bucket Campaign for Tuition Assistance. Grab a group of friends and enjoy knowing your meal is making a difference!
