The Friendship Heights Alliance kicks off creative summer programming that will bring the community together at a vibrant street festival and an exhibition of National Park Service photography.
The Friendship Heights Alliance is a new organization comprised of property owners and stakeholders in both Washington, DC, and Montgomery County, Maryland. Two event series kick off June 23 and June 25:
A Photography Exhibit: “The Echoes of Ellis Island”
The first floor of Chevy Chase Pavilion will be transformed from June through July into a gallery and cultural space showing photos taken by National Park Service Heritage Documentation Programs photographer Jarob Ortiz. The exhibit is created in partnership with Lost Origins Gallery and the Focus on the Story International Photo Festival, in collaboration with the National Park Service. This is the first solo exhibition of Jarob Ortiz’s work, presenting original large-format photographs of Ellis Island. Don’t miss the opportunity to mingle with friends over hors d’oeuvres and libations, view the photography, and meet the photographer on three dates this summer.
June 23: Opening Celebration, 6-9 pm: Hors d’oeuvres, beverages, and a brief program
July 7: Photographer’s Discussion, 6-8 pm: Hear directly from photographer Jarob Ortiz!
July 21: Closing Celebration, 6-9 pm:
The gallery will be open from 12-3 pm each Saturday and Sunday from June 25 to July 17.
