Target Gallery’s popular annual exhibition and art sale, March150, returns to the Torpedo Factory Art Center. Proceeds benefit the Gallery’s future special exhibitions and programs. The work will be on view Saturday, March 11, through Sunday, March 26, with an Art Party on Friday, March 24.

Target Gallery, the contemporary exhibition space for the Torpedo Factory, collected more than $13,000 in 2016 through March150. This yearly all-media exhibition features nearly 200 works created by artists local to Alexandria and the greater D.C. region. The only requirement to be on view in the exhibition was that artists needed to use the gallery-supplied 10” x 10” panel. All work in the show is priced at $150.

March150 is a perpetual favorite with patrons and local artists alike,” said Leslie Mounaime, director of the Target Gallery. “This exhibition is a low-pressure environment, which encourages new art collectors to buy original work, exposes seasoned collectors to new artists, and sets the stage for artists to test new techniques and ideas.”

During the Art Party on Friday, March 24; 7 – 10 p.m., all work is priced at $100. Guests have an opportunity to mingle with other art enthusiasts and meet many of the artists who have work on view in the show. The evening also features music, a photo booth, live performances by darlingdance, and artist awards. Tickets are $20 in advance; $25 at the door. There is an optional $15 add-on ticket for a guests to dine on some of the region’s best local fare with EatsPlace.

Supporters of the Factory Society, the Torpedo Factory’s young professionals network, are encouraged to attend the exhibition preview during Second Thursday Art Night on March 9, 6 – 9 p.m.

Artist awards will be given by Katy Chang, chef and founder of EatsPlace, and Suzanne Bethel, executive director of The Art League. Party attendees can vote for the People’s Choice Award, with a prize presented by Target Gallery.
