Target Gallery’s popular annual exhibition and art sale, March150, returns to the Torpedo Factory Art Center for the 9th year. Proceeds benefit future exhibitions and programs at Target Gallery and the Art Center. The work will be on view Saturday, March 9, through Sunday, March 31. There will also be a preview night on Friday, March 8, during The Late Shift: Strength in Unity. The exhibition will culminate with the perennial favorite March150 Art Party on Friday, March 29, 7 – 10 pm.

Target Gallery, the contemporary exhibition space for the Art Center, collected more than $15,000 in 2018 through March150. This yearly all-media exhibition features nearly 200 works created by artists local to Alexandria and the greater D.C. region. The only requirement to be on view in the exhibition is that artists needed to use the gallery-supplied 10″ x 10″ panel. All work in the show is priced at $150.

March150 is a perpetual favorite with patrons and local artists alike,” said Leslie Mounaime, director of exhibitions at Torpedo Factory Art Center. “This exhibition is a low-pressure environment. It encourages new collectors to buy original art, exposes seasoned collectors to new local artists, and sets the stage for artists to test new techniques and ideas.”

Target Gallery is partnering with the Factory Society, an independent young-patrons group that supports the Art Cetner , for theMarch150 Art Party on Friday, March 29; 7 – 10 p.m. Guests have an opportunity to mingle with other art enthusiasts and meet many of the artists who have artwork on view in the show. All art is priced at $100 exclusively during the Party.

The evening also features small bites from Chadwicks, a wine bar from Sonoma Cellar, and beer from Port City Brewing. Strike a pose in the photobooth with Mr. Shuttersworth and have fun making art with the Mobile Art Lab and Patrick Sargent ofPrintmakers, Inc. (Studio 325). Michaela Japec, the current post-grad resident, will be live painting. Andi Benge and her alter-ego Bunni make an appearance for an interactive live performance. Tickets are $25 in advance; $30 at the door.

Awards will be given at 9 pm for Best in Show, 2nd Place, 3rd Place, Honorable Mention, and People’s Choice. Prize packs have been donated by Factory Society, The Art League, Friends of the Torpedo Factory, Port City Brewing, AR Workshop, and more.
