Opening Reception: Sunday, September 15 from 4pm to 6pm
The Athenaeum Invitational celebrates the visual arts of DC/MD/VA and is a theme-based event featuring the works of both specially-invited artists who have previously exhibited in the Athenaeum Gallery, as well as works selected through a call for submissions open to anyone living or working in DC/MD/VA.
This year’s theme is about board games from a purely aesthetic perspective. The included works exhibit the creative means in which people developed board games to reflect their thoughts and reflections on the role of chance in life. While some are actual games, some refer to the role of games in life. $2500 in prizes will be awarded during opening reception.
