On View: March 13 – April 24, 2021
The Fred Schnider Gallery of Art (888 N. Quincy Street, Arlington, VA) opens its next exhibit March 13th, a dynamic collection of oil paintings from local artist, Scott Hutchison. In Scott’s work, people take center stage with layers of their personal stories left for us to discover. “It is about coaxing a story I see embedded in their pose and the physical space they occupy. Any overt message is a residual effect left by the more formal elements of artistic practice and the process of creation,” says Scott.
The title of the show “Flux” is meant to describe time. The people in Scott’s work either accept its ebb and flow, or fight its effect. “There is nothing easy about Scott Hutchison’s paintings, explains curator, David Carlson. Time and space converge through seamless Cubistic transitions connecting/disconnecting. While we were installing the work I frequently stopped just to simply take in the raw beauty.”
The exhibit runs March 13th through April 24th, by private tour. Special tours guided by the artist are available throughout the exhibit’s run. Those wanting to view Flux are welcome to call the gallery at 301.852.8042 to schedule a private tour of the exhibit within the weekly hours of Thursday-Sunday, 12-7pm and if a special artist tour is preferred, inquire about the dates available. The gallery requests that visiting groups not exceed more than six people to align with COVID safety guidelines.
