Opening Reception: Friday, August 11 from 5-8pm

Well-establish abstract expressionist artist, Jessica Wachter, is exhibiting for the first time in Washington DC at Homme DC Gallery, which features work from today’s most cutting-edge contemporary artists. The exhibition, Rewild, runs from August 10 – 25, 2023 and it will include a new body of work. The opening reception occurs on Friday, August 11 from 5 – 8 p.m.

Rewild is an exhibition that touches on the transformative aspects of evolving as humans within this life. The work questions what it means to be authentic to oneself despite life’s ups and downs and how it is important to always come back to the beautiful aspects that were part of our personalities since birth, like a wanderlust spirit and optimist at heart. The artwork at the exhibition represents that wild spirit of authenticity and not constraining oneself to the norm or restrictive societal ways of being. The pieces include works on paper, oil on canvas, and mixed media.

The colors, canvas shapes, textures, and movement are intentionally mixed to represent change and to break the mold of what fits in. This palette is also representative of Jessica’s native landscape of North and South Dakota. For this exhibition, she has taken inspiration from places where she grew up that remind her of the Midwest’s natural wild spirit, such as the Badlands, the beautiful plains and rivers, and the wide open skies.

Wachter’s exhibition at Homme DC will be the artist’s first time showing on the East Coast. In conjunction with the exhibition, there will be a cocktail event on Saturday, August 26 from 6-8 p.m.

Homme DC is located at 2000 L Street.
