Four artists / printmakers from Washington, DC traveled to Rome as part of a 2018 Sister Cities Grant for a week in April. There, the American artists explored etching/ engraving techniques at laborintus, an artist enclave at Corviale, a large public housing complex. The goal of the grant is to bring greater exposure to fine-art intaglio and printmaking, and to foster cultural exchange.

The work these four artists created in Rome was exhibited in Rome alongside prints by six Roman master printmakers with whom they worked. The exhibit is now coming to the Washington Printmakers Gallery.

Artist include: Sofia Cianfichi, Maisie McNeice, Jennaway Pearson, Maryanne Pollock, Ira Tattelman, Caterina Tedeschini, Claudia Vess, Jose Witteveen, Sarah Zakaib and Verginie Zimmer.

This Sister Cities exchange was funded in part by the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, an agency supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts.
