In Passages, Kanika Sircar examines ideas of inclusion, rejection, and freedom through elegantly angled ceramic forms, their intense, painterly surfaces layered with maps, marks, and textual fragments of laws and poetry. Series of stoneware Doors and Gateways broodingly allude to entrances and barriers; porcelain Dancers suggest escape from worldly torments through bodily autonomy; and Suktas look at the sky and wonder what the universe holds. This is a a show for the times that we are living through.
