Nashville-based, renowned mixed-media artist Wayne Brezinka has created a series of Ukraine inspired art to be unveiled at The Glover Park Hotel in Washington, DC, directly across the street from the Russian embassy.

As Ukrainian civilians seek refuge from the atrocities taking place in their country, millions of refugees have been welcomed by Poland, which borders Ukraine to the west. Because of my lineal descent from the region, this unfolding tragedy is particularly close to my heart. I created this series as a conduit to process outrage and grief, and to express support for Ukrainian resistance.

The art will remain on exhibit at the hotel through May 15th, 2022.

Brezinka uses such materials as cut-and-pasted newsprint, cloth, acrylic paint, cardboard, rope, foam core, and assorted found and reclaimed ephemera to create works which invite the viewer to engage with the stories contained within the portraits. Solo and group exhibitions of his work have been presented in New York, Nashville, Indiana and Washington, DC.

Glover Park Hotel is located at 2505 Wisconsin Ave. NW.
