Willow Street Gallery Presents SELF/REFLECTION

The Willow Street Gallery in Takoma, DC is pleased to announce its re-opening with a group exhibition featuring works by the member artists of the DC Arts Studios.

SELF/REFLECTION will run from September 2 to October 2, 2022, culminating with the Takoma Park Street Festival and DCAS Open Studios. An opening reception will take place on Friday, September 2, 2022 from 7-9:30pm. Willow Street Gallery is a part of DC Arts Studios.

Twenty-two member artists are involved in the exhibition: Aaron Henderson, Aiden Paddlety, Brad Ireland, Caitlin Oldham, Chris Luckman, Darren Milligan, Dave Hysom, Deb Sivigny, Jacqueline Bryant Campbell, Jonathan Ege, Katharine Heyl, Laura Whitfield, Lea Craigie Marshall, Martha Crawley, Mei Mei Chang, Myron L. Fields, Nqobile Mthethwa, Rohan Thomas, Saaraliisa Ylitalo, Sharon Farmer, Vanessa Clement, and Wil Bernard.

The featured works are inspired by the idea of a self portrait, expanding beyond the traditional boundaries of figurative works and deconstructing the meaning of “self”. The works from the artists encompass many different mediums including painting, drawing, multi-media, photography and textiles.

SELF/REFLECTION will run thru October 2, 2022. The artists will be present for the opening reception Friday, September 2nd from 7-9:30pm.

The Willow Street Gallery is a part of DC Arts Studios. The gallery’s mission is to provide exhibition opportunities for artists and DC Arts Studio members. The gallery is run by a DCAS members-only committee that oversees the schedule of exhibitions, jury selection and installation. The committee also partners with guest curators to present exhibitions on visual arts, artists and art making practices. In the future, members will host workshops, critiques, multi-discipline events, lectures and artist talks.
