Hands-on Creative Woodworking – 3 Stages of Live Music – Instrument Exploration – Art – Lawn Games – Qigong Meditation – Book Swaps – Vendors – Food and Drink

Creative hand-on activities will be held in ZCAF’s unique Mobile Woodshop, made possible by funding from Events DC and the DC Commission on Arts and Humanities. Experience the satisfaction of working pieces of wood with your hands and learning about different woods and woodworking techniques.

ZCAF’s Mobile Woodshop is an experiential classroom on wheels to teach students the fundamentals of woodworking. This unique shop will take such learning opportunities to
various sites in the District of Columbia.

The Mobile Woodshop is currently holding Pre-Apprenticeship Carpentry Training (PACT) for students18–26 years old at Ballou STAY HS in Ward 8. Our goal is to introduce young people to the building trades. Students learn technical skills and personal work habits to prepare them for apprenticeship carpentry programs. Small classes ensure that participants receive individualized attention, gain confidence through sequential learning, and benefit from a low student/teacher ratio. MORE ABOUT THE PROGRAM.

Starting January 2022, Zenith Community Arts Foundation (ZCAF), located at 1429 Iris Street, NW, Washington, DC 20012, will offer woodworking programs in Ward 4’s Shepherd Park. Short courses will focus on a variety of subjects such as wood sculpture, do-it-yourself projects and wood-turning.

The Parks Historic Walter Reed is located at 1010 Butternut St. NW.
