Workshop: Saturday, September 10 from 1pm to 4pm

Art Enables hosts their monthly community arts workshop, where artists, art enthusiasts, children, and adults can participate in art-making workshops led by local artists.
Their September workshop will be led by local artist and teacher, Jonathan Weiner from 1 – 4pm on September 10th, 2016. He will be leading “Abstraction in a Cup,” challenging guests to think outside of the box and experiment with 3-D sculpture. All skill levels welcome. Free and open to the public, with light refreshments provided.
About the Instructor:
DC native Jonathan Weiner studied photography and sculpture at the Corcoran College of Art and photography at Montgomery College. Later he studied broadcast media at the University of Maryland and earned a BA in art and media studies from De Montfort University in Leicester, England. Before returning to university and earning a Master’s in Education from George Washington, Jonathan worked in a variety of fields. These included: small engine mechanic, carpenter, television production assistant, video editor, editorial assistant, journalist, radio news anchor and salesman.
Today Jonathan teaches art in Fairfax County Public Schools and continues to produce sculptures and photographs. Selections from a three year long project photo documenting the Potomac River has been shown at Glen Echo National Park and at the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop.
