Fridays, August 2, 16, and 23 and September 6 – Working From the Figure Drop-In Figure Drawing
The Capitol Hill Arts Workshop hosts drop-in Working from the Figure sessions on Fridays, August 2, 16, and 23 and September 6, 2019 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at 545 7th Street, SE. Work on drawings or paintings in front of a live model in a session without formal instruction, facilitated by artist Will Fleishell. Please bring your own drawing materials. Easels are available. Saturdays, August 3 and 10 – Free Drop-in Summer Saturday Art Workshops
The Capitol Hill Arts Workshop is excited to announce Summer Saturdays, drop-in art experiences for the whole family from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturdays, August 3 and 10 at 545 7th St, SE. Each Saturday, one of CHAW’s amazing teaching artists will lead families in a guided art project. Meet new people, learn a new skill, and create something amazing at CHAW! Saturday, August 31 – Veronica Melendez Photography Exhibit and Opening
The Capitol Hill Arts Workshop presents an exhibit of the works of Veronica Melendez, recipient of CHAW’s 2019 Darkroom Artist Residency, on view August 19 – September 9, 2019. A reception and artist talk will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at 545 7th Street, SE, Washington, DC, 20003. For three months this spring, Veronica worked in the darkroom and digital photographic facilities at CHAW, dedicating time to a project about her grandmother’s eight daughters who almost all migrated to D.C from Guatemala in the 80’s.
