For this year’s Hyattsville Arts & Ales Festival, we’ve got a jam-packed schedule of FREE activities! Meet some of our teaching artists, visit our 17 artist studios and 24 artists who create here, enjoy hands-on activities or demos in all 5 community studios—letterpress, printmaking, book arts, papermaking, and screenprinting––and join us for INHERITANCE artist-led tours by Imar Hutchins in the gallery. Learn more >

Double-Needle Coptic Stitch

Hyattsville Figure Drawing Class: Every Tuesday!
September 24, 6–9pm | $15 for Pyramid members, $20 for non-members 
Each weekly session begins with 5-minute warm-up poses with a classical nude model and culminates with a single, sustained pose for the remainder of the session. Bring your own materials, paper and easel (if needed). Walk-ins and late arrivals welcome, no experience necessary! Learn more >

Autumnal Monoprints Coptic Stitch

Make a good impression! We’ll have ink mixed, pressure set, and paper ready. You will learn about the basics of monotype printing and the process of printing on a Rembrandt relief press. We’ll print directly from natural materials to create colorful and subtly detailed prints. Learn more >

Screenprinting Monoprints

Introduction to Western Papermaking

This workshop covers the basic techniques of Western-style hand papermaking, including pulp preparation, sheet forming, couching, pressing, and drying. It includes an overview of decorative techniques, such as the use of pigments, inclusions, layering, and shaped deckles. Learn more >

Playing with Books: Autumn Monoprints

Learn how to make interactive book forms that can easily be adapted to many projects. All the book forms covered in this workshop can be made with any variety of papers. Feel free to bring your old papers, scraps, maps, and ephemera to turn into playful books. Learn More >
