Monday, January 6 – CHAW’s Artist Residency with MK Bailey
MK Bailey, the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop’s 2020 Gallery Artist Resident, begins her five-week residency January 6 through February 10, 2020 in CHAW’s gallery at 545 7th Street, SE, Washington, DC, 20003. MK’s proposal entitled FEVER DREAM includes constructing a life-size, evolving collage on a wall of the gallery space. The installation will grow and change as she responds to the gallery environment. She’ll be documenting the evolution of the piece with a series of paintings based off the installation over the course of the residency. The work will capture the twists and turns of MK’s creative process and is meant to encourage contemplation on the evolving nature of inspiration. MK will teach “Cut, Copy” a collage workshop for ages 12 and up on Saturday, January 18, 2020 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. A reception of MK’s work will be Friday, January 31, 2020 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. All events are free and open to the public.
