Non-Toxic Intaglio Printing
March 13–15 | 10 am–3 pm | $375
Interested in learning more about non-toxic etching techniques? David Mohallatee, an expert in the field, will show you how to use aluminum etching plates and a safer salt-based mordant to create beautiful tones and marks. In addition, you’ll learn how to use rubber-based lift grounds and stop-outs, acrylic-based hard grounds, and aquatinting techniques to create a range of value. learn more

Package Design and Letterpress Printing
March 14–15 | 10 am–4 pm | $300
This class covers the basics of package design while printing on die-cut boxes and coasters! We will learn multi-layer printing with photopolymer as well as set type on objects beyond the world of normal paper. Using both the Vandercook and tabletop presses you will create a cohesive package that you will be able to assemble and take home after the two-day intensive! learn more

Print & Dye: Screenprinting with Mordants

Explore the process and possibilities of printmaking with mordants on fabric utilizing silkscreens of your own imagery. Mordants allow plant matter to bond to fibers, one they have been screened onto fabric, pieces will be immersed in a natural dye vat. By localizing the mordants using thickened pastes, natural dyes will directly color the areas in which the pastes are stamped or painted. Participants will create rich, one of a kind, multi-toned imagery. learn more

Introduction to Foil Stamping
March 18 | 7–9 pm | $40
Hot foil stamping has historically been used to gold leaf monograms on books, but today it is used on everything from bookmarks to wedding invitations. There will be a printing demonstration on various materials such as paper, leather, and book cloth, and you’ll take home a set of coasters that you press yourself. This class will give you the tools necessary to press your own design in the future. learn more

Gelatin Plate Printmaking

Learn to create beautiful, unique prints in minutes without a press, using Akua waterbased inks, Golden Open acrylics, and Gelatin plates. We will utilize a variety of materials including painting tools, stencils, and natural and found objects. Play By The Rules with Chadwick Tolley

If you often find yourself “stuck” in the process of making art or creating images, this workshop is for you. Artist and printmaker Chadwick Tolley will help students develop successful color and image strategies that will allow the artist to “play” and respond intuitively to materials and process. Miniature Drypoints

Family Screenprinting

Learn to screenprint with your child! Bring a line drawing made by your child, or one that you have worked on together, and learn how to prepare it to be screenprinted onto paper and a tote bag.
