Visiting Artist Demonstration
DC GlassWorks hosts another James Renwick Alliance Visiting artist event on Saturday, May 2 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm with Einar & Jamex de la Torre.

Einar and Jamex de la Torre have worked, taught and exhibited both nationally, as well as internationally. Their distinctive three-dimensional work can be found in galleries, museum collections, Museum catalogs, as well as in various public art installations. They are recent recipients of the Joan Mitchel foundation award and the Louis Comfort Tiffany foundation award.

Six-Week Glassblowing Classes
DC GlassWorks’ May glassblowing classes begin in a couple weeks. Whether it’s your first time working with hot glass or you’re looking to add new skills, they’ve got a class for you.

DC GlassWorks next six-week sessions include Beginning Glassblowing, Basic Shapes with Color Applications and Long Neck Bottles and Amphorae for intermediate glassblowers.

Weekend Welding Workshop
DC GlassWorks’ two-day Welding and Metal Fabrication class is great for first-time metal workers or those looking to refresh their skills with some hands-on practice with cutting, fabricating and welding metal.

This is a practical skills class that will emphasize safety training and the basic working skills necessary to start making sculpture.

Create Your Own Paperweight
Looking for a fun friends or family outing? Check out DC GlassWorks’ last Saturdays and second Sundays to give working with hot glass a try.

Open House & Open Studio Tour
Join the artists of DC GlassWorks for their Spring Open House and Open Studio event on Saturday, May 9 from 12:00 to 5:00 pm.

As part of the Gateway Arts District Open Studio Tour, tour the DC GlassWorks gallery, visit resident artist studios or work with one of their instructors to make your own glass paperweight for a fee. And, as always, there will be beer, snacks and folks demonstrating glassblowing all day.

Family friendly and free. This is thier last Open House before the fall–don’t miss it.
