New Intermediate Classes

For the first time since its opening, Open Studio dc will be offering intermediate screenprinting classes in addition to classes for beginners.  The intermediate classes are designed for people who have taken one of our screenprinting workshops or learned the basics elsewhere and want to learn some more techniques or just practice what you have already learned.  There are two classes for intermediate students: One class where you will learn some new tricks like printing with more than one color, creating texture, and using ink as an adhesive.  The other class will focus on 4-color separation which allows you to screenprint color photos that look either close to the original or change it up with a new color scheme.

Hold a Printing Party!
If you are looking for a fun new group event, a printing party might be just what you are looking for!  Open Studio dc hosts printing parties for up to 20 people where the group will learn the basics of screenprinting and print T-shirts with their own design or group logo. The price is $30/person if you supply the shirts and $40 if Open Studio dc supplies the shirts. For safety purposes, party participants must be 16 years of age or older.  Email Carolyn Hartmann at for more information.

Open Studio dc is a screenprinting studio where artists can rent space or take classes. Open Studio also holds shows designed to promote printmaking.

They are located at 1438 Florida Ave NE.  Visit them online at or email them at
