Project Create Hosts Family Day

By Editorial Team on July 11, 2018

Event: Saturday, July 14 from 11am to 12pm and 1pm to 4pm

11:00 am – 12:00 pm: Family Art & Literacy Workshop “Just below the Surface: Exploring our Rivers, Lakes, and Ponds”
Teaching Artist: Karen O. Brown
Come take the edge off the summer heat and discover the secret underwater world of our rivers and ponds with visual artist Karen Brown. Using collage, pastels and paper, we will create an art book of the animals and plant that make up the wonderful water world below the surface of our Anacostia River. Recommended for children ages 0-5, but everyone is welcome.

1:00 pm – 4:00 pm: “Creative Garden Party”
Teaching Artist: Kimberly Gaines
During this all-ages workshop, we will collaboratively create a life-sized paper flower garden. Participants will make large flower petals to add to the paper garden backdrop. Each artist will also create a unique crown and have their portrait taken in front of the flower garden. All ages welcome.

The Project Create Studio is located at 2028 Martin Luther King Jr Ave SE 2nd Floor (Diagonal from the Big Chair, entrance on V Street SE, second floor above Mama’s Kitchen). For inquiries, please email or call (202) 889-0655.
