Weaving Warmth and Wonder: An Interactive Weaving Workshop for Families
Teaching Artist: Karen O. Brown
11am to 12pm
Join them to learn a beautiful art form that is thousands of years old. This family fun workshop, led by teaching artist Karen O. Brown, is based on the Native American story “The Goat in the Rug.”

You’ll learn how to create a Navajo rug by making small looms and weaving with paper and yarn. Come enjoy a morning of stories, crafts, and fun. Recommended for families with children ages 2-6, but everyone is welcome.

West African Drums & Drumming
Teaching Artist: Yuma “Dr. Yew” Bellomee
1pm to 4pm
This fun, interactive workshop will explore the world of African percussion, including instruction on how to make the sounds on the drums, exercises for basic rhythmic patterns, and creating polyrhythms. Workshop participants will also have an opportunity to express their creativity through sound in a drum circle activity.
