Mirrored Play is an original work created by artist Dawn Whitmore with composer Ashi Day and performed by opera singers, Rachel Sitomer and Mairin Srygley. This piece is about searching for familiarity and connection in the dark. Beginning at sunset, the two sopranos will sing with their backs facing each other, searching in the reflections of mirrors mounted on wavy ladders to make eye contact with the other.
This project is inspired by and dedicated to the wildlife that inhabits Crofton Park: the foxes, barred owls, mourning doves, squirrels, dragonflies, painted turtles, sunfish, beavers, geese, raccoons, lighting bugs, and the little blue heron.
The performance is twelve minutes in duration and freely open to the general public. Appropriate for all ages and presented in a historic outdoor amphitheater.
